Advantages: Small, Lightweight, loads of functions

Disadvantages: Not many accessories for this model

This came out back in June2000 if I remember. It was one of the smallest lightest and feature packed digital handycams I could find. For the price, it was pretty good value compared to some of the other cameras around. It has Super Night vision, a great zoom, links to a PC and you can even take digital stills on to a memory stick. A great feature I found was being able to create still images from the moving image captured on the DV tape.
I took the camera when hiking up the Inca trail - it's size and weight were great for climbing up a mountain! Plus the quick switch on and ready to use meant I didn't miss many moments. The images I got looked so clear when played back on my TV. All the great picture functions such as the fade modes meant I could create some effects to make the filming seem a lot more professional (okay...in my opinion anyway!)
The large LCD viewfinder also meant it was easy to film when travelling across rougher terrain.

Plus the price has come down a lot since the original intro to make it more competitive.

Unfortunately I don't have a Sony Vaio which means I can't link up to download moving images to my PC. But that's about the only major drawback I can think of.

For the more professional user, I'd suggest looking at the TRV20 or even the new PC110 just out.
