At last - DV in!!! (Sony Handycam DCR-TRV11)

I bought this camera whilst on holiday staying with my stepdaughter in Kuwait. I bought it there because I wanted DV-in which, due to some stupid European rule, is horrendously expensive over here.

The TRV11E on sale here in the UK have not got the facility to record back to the camera. I had previously tried a software solution on a Sony TRV120E but it was not successful, the picture looking like it had been scrambled.

The camera is lovely to hold, one handed if you like, and with 'Super Steady Shot' the pictures recorded come out fine. It has a nice normal zoom and a digital zoom of 120x if you really need it! Super Night Shot and Super Laser Link are also features if you really need them as well! It comes with a Memory stick for stills but at a resolution of 640 x 480 I won't be using it - my Casio QV3000EX beats that easily! (see my opinion on the Casio!) The DV tapes are tiny and should you need to buy some then go to 'Tempo' - they are much cheaper there! Two for about a tenner at the moment (Sony's).

The LCD screen is a nice size - much bigger than my old TRV120E and the camera has a colour viewfinder as well. Lots of effects are built in to the camera but if you will be editing and sending the finished video back to the camera you won't need them and of course if if you do edit back to the camera there is absolutely no loss of quality. That's the beauty of digital video!
