Neat, Compact, it works! (Sony Handycam DCR-TRV6)

Advantages: small size, high quality Disadvantages: high cost of miniDV tapes
Faced with a choice of replacing my dodgy Video8 analogue camcorder with a Digital8 or MiniDV, I finally opted for the TRV-6 because its compact size, easy controls and snug fit in the hand was preferable to compatibility with my old Video8 tape library and a Digital8 camcorder twice the size. So far it has proved itself as a very high quality machine with good quality LCD and colour viewfinder. Battery life is also excellent with the SONY InfoLithium range. The down side is the high cost of miniDV tapes and their 1 hour SP recording time. In that respect Digital8 is better, but means a bigger machine. This one fits in a waist bag. The lack of Memory Stick (for RAM based stills capture)was not a prime concern to me as a dedicated digital still camera would do a better job. Some slightly more expensive models feature this.
