Why? Quite obvious: the VX-1000 has all the features of a professional camcorder and more. I've worked with several other camcorders and this one has it all. If I'd buy a new one today, I would probably choose the VX-2000, the newer version which has a manual zoom (not on the VX-1000), an lcd monitor (I miss this feature on the VX-1000, but I can live with it...)and as far as I know a more powerful zoom (but after all, if you're serious about video-making, why would you need a 100X zoom ??) the VX-1000's image is perfect, the microphone of great quality (at least for what I'm doing) and the connectors/buttons are where you need them.
