Sony Handycam DCR DVD450ESurround sound adds an extra dimension of realism to your videos, just like at the cinema. 5.1-channel recording captures crisp, lifelike audio that sounds great on your home theater system. Best of all, you don't need extra microphones or cables: everything's built in to the camcorder. With hours of footage stored on your camcorder, it can be hard tracking down a particular scene. Face index helps you find shots containing faces in an instant. Film roll index cuts longer recordings into shorter 'chapters', making it quicker and easier to find the right moment. Everyone knows the frustration of fumbling for your camcorder when something amazing happens... And then it's too late. Flip open the LCD screen and you're ready to start shooting in a fraction of a second. Standby battery drain is super-low, so you can always be ready to catch that special moment. It's easy to manage your video clips and photos with picture motion browser for your PC. Sort, search and browse through all your clips and photos in an instant. Burn them to disc, email to friends or upload to social networking sites with a few clicks. |

Rating:
I had used many camcorders before purchasing this Sony handycam. I normally capture video and use it mostly for special effects and video editing. The handycam is an excellent camera and is very small which can fit into a jacket pocket. I have used this camera for some time and I have not encountered any problems with the camera. The camera quality is amazing as it is very clear. The camera zoom is 20x, and once the camera is zoomed into its fullest the video still appears clear. The video time is good as the DV tapes last up to 60 minutes with slow play and 90 minutes with long play. I have tried using both and the slow play will provide much better video quality, I ...

quality video. The camera gives you the option of two different types of storage medium, the first and primary being a mini dv tape and the secondary being a Sony memory stick slot. I believe the camera comes with a 8MB card, pretty tiny in this day and age. It is good enough to hold a couple 30s clips. I have not used the wealth of features this camera has, tending to only use the standard video recording, the zoom, still photo capability and the nightvision mode. Since I have not used any others I cannot comment on their functionality. The zoom is a 12x optical zoom which offers high quality magnification to allow video recording of distant objects, this is furthered ...

I could cut video cd's. So my requirement was to be able to play back the old Hi8 stuff and record new in digital. That rather narrowed the field to Sony Digital8. Digital 8 is a bridging technology between 8mm and miniDV. It makes use of the same physical media as Hi8 tapes (and the drive mech) but places digital code (DV) on the tapes rather than analogue. In most of the range it also enables old analogue tapes to be played back (so you only need one gadget to bridge the gap). The downside is that a 90 min Hi8 tape used to record DV only gives 60 min, and the format is larger than miniDV, making the gadget larger. Checking out the Sony range I was driven by ...
