Advantages: Good picture quality
Disadvantages: microphone too sensitive
Used one of these HD cameras for my university assignment. I borrowed it from the Media Department in the library because there was no way i could afford to buy one.
You can film in HD or DV as to adjust the quality and memory usage, its Full HD as well, which means you benefit from the best quality picture that can be produced. The 6.1 megapixel camera built in is no slouch as well - it takes quick pictures that are up to scratch (almost) with my 6mp dslr so it makes for a good camera and video camera combined (Wathc out for thieves though)
Aesthetically its pleasing to the eye, black sleek design thats comfortable to hold, however I have fairly small hands for a man so might be a bit fiddly to hold and press buttons on the small LCD screen for people with bigger fingers.
Bettery power is not too bad, I managed an hours worth of filming one day and the battery didn't complain, barely moved actually, and that was on full HD recording.
I don't feel the Lens is wide enough really and Im not too sure if you can change them on these because of them being all integrated, zoom functionality is good but not brilliant.
Microphone picks up most sounds in the local area and is sensitive to the operator breathing sometimes. Too many functions which i didn't use just down to the amount of time that i had it.
All in all a pretty good camera however not sure i would pay £600 for it or whatever it goes for. Worth more like £400 in my opinion
Summary: I would love to buy but not for the price, get one second hand or wait a while
