Advantages: quality, controls

Disadvantages: weight, price

This is certainly not a camera just for someone who wants to take the occaisional holiday video. However, with thiis you can take really good quality proffessional video.

The camera is much bigger and bulkier than a handicam, and also has a much larger price tag, but in return you get better controls and far better video quality.

On this camera manual focus, iris white balance and gain are all easy to control giving you the best possible picture quality, whilst there are auto settings if they are needed!

the camera records onto mini dv tape. this is good, because unless you have a really expensive camera recording to tape is far better as it doesnt compress the footage to store onto an internal hard drive, and you can keep the tapes as an archive of your footage - easier than storing is all on a huge scratch disk

but really, this is a more professional camera, if you are looking at buying it then its the technical stats you are after!

Summary: nice cam if you will use the features
