Sony Handycam DCR-DVD105E ... bought this camcorder a while ago because I trusted the brand name and because it was fitted with a Carl Zeiss lens. My grandfather used to be an amatuer photographer and always told me that Carl Zeiss cameras were awesome! This camcorder is manufactured by Sony and can record video and take picture stills to mini discs and to a memory stick. It uses 8cm sized mini discs. I find that transferring video to another format for posterity is quite difficult and a lengthly process. I use a disc drive that can manage 8cm sized discs then burn the video onto my computer and then to a larger disc. If you want to view your footage on a TV then you will either need a DVD machin... Sony Handycam DCR-DVD105E ... this camcorder very easy to use the controls are very user friendly. Single record stop button and zoom in and out toggle switch. You have the option to use the viewer or the pull out the LCD screen whilst recording. The LCD screen can be flip around 180 degrees to allow playback and editing of the stored clips. Video quality is not bad for the 800k pixel sensor, it does struggle in poor light though. The photo snap feature is poor resolution. All video is stored on mini dvd disk, they are 1.5Gb and hold about 30mins of footage, you can get double sided ones which helps a bit. Sony Handycam DCR-TRV14 ... purchased this Sony model around 5 years ago for about £200 i think? My main reason for purchase was for Paranormal Research, and as such wanted a model that had decent reviews for its nightvision capability, and this fit the bill on that count! Prior to this i had not owned a camcorder and knew nothing about using them really, but found this surprisingly easy to pick up and learn with. The instruction manual was huge as they always are to cover every single function they can do, however to just do the basic recording and playback it doesnt take a rocket scientist to suss that out!
