Sony Handycam DCR-TRV255 ... Patrols in a pitch black Warehouse just using this function (I had to test it!!) and was amazed! You have a 20x Optical Zoom from the 2.5 - 50mm Lens and an additional 990x Zoom with a Digital Based Zoom. Now this does have its uses as I ve filmed "Footage" from 20 meters away and had a crystal clear image that has been Confirmed by Police as usable footage. You have the standard Sony SteadyShot Function which is very handy for those situations where you re moving around while filming or filming things moving at High speeds (ie F-15 Eagles doing a Flypast at an Airshow). Sony Handycam DCR-TRV480 ... night shots. The light just adds that little spookieness. The zoom button is located so as that access during filming is easy to either zoom in or out. On the inside of the camcorder where the screen folds in there are all your normal VCR buttons forward reverse etc. There are also set buttons for stting the time and tpye of film you wish to use. Silver seems to be the in colour just now and Sony have decided to go with the flow on this model too. It s nice brushed silver unit with all buttons being very accessible during use. Sony Handycam DCR-TRV18 ... but loads and loads for the film itself. I have been playing with different settings and making film clips join together in lots of different ways, they all look pretty good but experimenting and over experimenting made some of my films look like a kid put them together and used every available editing tool on them. Still a great learning curve, better films in the future. I have found that Sony camcorder batteries last longer than other makes that I have used which is why I chose a sony this time. There is nothing more frustrating than filming on holiday and running out of battery life half way through the day, the Sony lasts about 12 hours if you don t use the zoo...
