Advantages: Superb build quality
Disadvantages: Average image quality
At around the size of a chewing gum packet (55 x 20 x 20mm), Veho's VCC-003 Muvi is undoubtedly one of the smallest video cameras on the market. The device is perfect for extreme sports enthusiasts, as the product can be clipped to your clothing via the included spring mounting cradle. Before we proceed, it's important to note that there are plenty of clone versions of this product on Amazon and eBay - none of which have the build quality of the Veho version, which, due to its all-metal body, is remarkably robust.
Price & Availability

In terms of its price, the VCC-003 currently retails at £36.91 from Amazon - this is the cheapest I could find the product online, apart from the second hand models available on eBay. The products ships with a 2GB MicroSD card, a soft pouch, neck strap, USB cable, and the aforementioned spring mounting clip.
The Muvi in Use

Using the Muvi is simple - firstly flip the on / off switch (on the left hand side) upward to activate the device. When in standby mode, a small blue light on the top of the Muvi illuminates. The record button is also found on top of the product, and when pressed the Muvi will begin filming. Pressing it again will stop the recording, upon which the device will return to standby. You'll know when the Muvi is recording as a green flashing light will activate. In theory, the included 2GB MicroSD should hold roughly ninety minutes of footage (at the 1gb per 45mins mark noted in the manual) - however, I have noticed that the 2gb card often stops after around the forty five minutes mark. I would personally recommend investing in a higher speed MicroSD card (class 6 or above), as the one which ships with the product is a little slow, resulting in jerky playback.
Additional Features, Image Quality, and Battery

As well as the standard recording mode, the Muvi features a voice activated setting which will start up the device when a sound above 65 decibels is heard. To use this option you'll need to set the "Vox" switch (on the right hand side) to "on", whilst making sure the main on / off switch is also on. The recording will end after two minutes if no further sounds are detected.
So let's talk about the image quality - the product is billed as "the world's smallest high resolution camcorder" - but high resolution doesn't mean high definition. Here, the maximum image size is 640 x 480 pixels (at around 20-25 frames per second), which is certainly sub-HD. The returned image is fairly laden with image noise, which worsens as the ambient light fades - however, it's a sharp picture with good contrast levels. The lens is absolutely minute - so it's remarkable that's it's able to record anything at all! The sound quality is acceptable, although the device does pick up a lot of wind noise in outdoor environments.
The Muvi uses a rechargeable 500ma battery which can last up to two hours in continuous filming mode. The battery is replenished by attaching the USB cable to your computer (it will work with Mac and PC), and I've found that the charge usually takes around two hours to complete.

For its size, the Veho VCC-003 Muvi is a good little video camera - however, anyone who is used to the image quality that a larger lens produces will perhaps be disappointed. If it wasn't for the impressive build quality, I would say that the Muvi is a little over priced - however, it really is a sturdy little item which will survive all manner of rough treatment.
