Nikon D40 ... Like the canon EOS 300D of 2003, Nikon’s D40 broke a psychological price barrier at the end of 2006 as the 1st DSLR kit launched at a price under £500!! Using the same as the 6.1 mega pixel sensor as the D50 may not make it the highest resolution model in this group, but it does benefit from having the largest pixels, which should, in turn, mean less noise. Changes to the body design mean there’s no longer an AF motor in the camera, so the 3 point MultiCAM-530 module is only compatible with AF-S AND AF-I lenses which have their own motor. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S500 ... entry level Sony digital camera. All the quality and strategy you would expect from a Sony, but with some unexpected flaws. People care about resolution nowadays, expressed in MegaPixels, so producers offer more megapixels on any camera they market, even the most basic. This is the case of DSC-S500, 6.2 megapixels for nothing. In fact, they give you a reasonable amount of pixels but they take away everything else: the lens (which is not a Zeiss Tessar), the viewfinder (abolished), the speaker, the plugs cover (left naked to threats from sand and dust) and even the hi-speed USB connection! Nikon D50 ... was given a NIKON D50 digital SLR camera for chrismas and i can honestly say that i love it. It cost around £350.00 and came with standard lens 18 - 55mm. I have since bought another lens which is 55 - 200 and cost me £100.00 which is great for zooming in. Its so easy to use and whatever i seem to point it at turns into an amazing picture. I have used it mainly on the auto setting and this gives great results. I have also started to learn how to use the different functions using the manual settings and this is proving to be very rewarding too.
