It appeals to the passionate photographer as it has a leica lens therefore great image capture.
The 12x optical zoom is great but ive not tried the digital zoom as yet.
It has captured great photos at night on both the night setting and also when i turned the setting off.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18EG-K ... I have used this camera for capturing videos quite a bit though. Much like with taking pictures, video quality is excellent with this camera and has always impressed me. Videos can be captured at a maximum resolution of 848 x 480 pixels, and in my opinion this is excellent. I did not buy the camera for taking videos, just for taking photographs, but the video recording capabilities of this camera have been greatly pleasing to see. Ultimately I do want to own a video camera eventually, technology astounds me and I love to own all the latest gadgets; this camera however is great for capturing video and the need for a Video Camera for me is therefore no longer there... Fujifilm Finepix S5700 ... photographer and not a professional. I just wanted more and better results. When I saw the beautiful results from this Fujifilm gem the Finepix S5700, I knew this would fill the bill and it has. My best camera buy in 15 years I am certain. The price is right and the specifications are excellent. There are all sorts of add-ons such as lenses and specially made cases for it. This model takes an SD card as well as Fuji's own brand of card, so this is a bonus since I can interchange easily with my other cameras. Jenoptik Jendigital JD C 2.1 LCD ... the AAAs rechargeable batteries replacing. Ordinary ones soon ran down. 50 or so pictures on full recharged at least would have been normal. I found it could make really good photos and had some blown up to 7x5 or 8x6. There was always a timelag and indecisive moment when taking a photo, the shutter button felt as though it wasn't making a firm contact, and went of sooner or later than you expected. The screen looked bright and the layout and control menus took some getting used to, but it delivered very good quality pictures, if you put the effort in.
