Advantages: multiple uses, compact,

Disadvantages: flimsy construction

The Aiptek DV5700 is also known in the USA as the Aiptek IS-DV.
Costing around the £50 mark, this little hybrid camera has some nice features. camera, digicam, voice recorder, MP3 player and external storage device.
Its lightweight being plastic bodied, and the joystick is a bit on the flimsy side but treat it gently and it will serve you well.

CAMERA
The 270 degree swivel LCD screen is great for taking video or photos at weird angles, such as overhead where good results are achieved thanks to the Anti-Shake function.
Resolution is up to 5 megapixles although the last 2 are enhanced. Zoom function is available in stills mode or video.
There is a bit of shutter lag but once you are aware of it, it should not be a problem.
Settings are from fully auto to manual light settings as well as macro mode. There's a handy histogram for the advanced user and a very powerful double flash (including pre- flash for red eye reduction) for flash fill. The self timer used in conjunction with the tripod is very handy. Reversing the screen allows for precision self composure.

VIDEO can be as long as the size of the internal and/or memory card in the expansion slot will allow. It is not much use in low light conditions, the microphone is over sensitive and will pick up wind noise when used outside due to its position on the front of the lcd flip screen.

The MP3 player function works well, plug in the earphones and play the music stored on the SD card using the external controls.

Connect to the PC via the USB lead and you have an external storage device as well as a very efficient webcam.

The Aiptek comes with a li-on battery, charger, soft case and mini tripod. It's so much fun to use, a media card and spare battery is highly recommended.

Summary: A lot of fun at a budget price
