The size of the Ixus 100 IS, already makes head turns just by the sheer size of its body, upon using it you'll be filed with satisfaction from its cutting edge technology. Needless to say, the camera is extremely compact, yet it is still blessed with fantastic aesthetic qualities that makes this an ideal fashion accessory for the image conscious.

One of the most amazing features of the camera, would be its ability to capture video in high definition (HD) at 1280 x 720, which is indeed impressive for any camera, yet alone a camera of this size. In addition, you'll be able to easily enjoy the HD video clips that you have recorded on your HD television by simply connecting the mini HDMI cable to the camera's port.

In addition to its standard features, there are also specialised modes such as Macro which is quite powerful, being able to focus clearly and in detail on an object/surface that is just 1 centimetre away. The camera's lens is only average, because it is limited to 3x zoom, but realistically there has to be a compromise for the camera's size and this is one of it. Whilst this is not fantastic, this camera is more suited to leisure photography and not highly creative image that demand the use of many manual settings and a more powerful zoom capability.

In total there are eighteen different combinations of settings which are suited to most of the common shooting conditions, which saves you from having to spent time to work it out yourself. After the image has been captured, you can review it and see the results of the camera's chosen settings, you also have the option to capture it gain with manual adjustments made by yourself or just leave it to the camera.

There are also a few smart innovations that light sound life changing and a huge break through in technology, but realistically it does help to make photography more fun. Functions such as blink and face detection makes it easier to take group photos that saves the photographer the sprint/dash to get into the frame after setting the camera, which works by simply taking the shot after a new face has been detected.

The photos taken can be checked on the camera's 2.5" display screen which is the best way of gauging the camera since the viewfinder which is rather tiny does not seem terribly accurate when compared to the display screen.

Summary: This camera is one of the best for those that want a reliable camera and do not want to carry around
