Great quality photos from a reliable camera (Canon Digital Ixus 100 IS)

I have had this camera now for a couple of months and thought I would give my opinion on it. I bought a canon because of many reccomendations from friends and I liked the look of this model. I own the black model which looks very stylish but the only downside is that fingerprint smudges show up on the casing a bit due to the colour.

The 12mp setting gives excellent quality pictures but the lower settings also yield great quality photos and load much faster onto your computer and when uploading so I reccommend using a lower mp setting most of the time. The auto mode setting on this camera is so clever and will automatically detect the right light and scene settings for the optimum picture, which appears to work very well most of the time.

The HD video setting is also extremely high quality and I have been very impressed with this feature, not having purchased it specifically for this reason. I feel that the optical zoom (3x) could be a bit higher for the price paid for this camera, but there is always the option for paying for the next model up (ixus 120IS) for this feature.

Overall I would say I am extremely satisfied with this camera and I have taken some great quailty photographs. I've been experimenting with all the colour settings and the colour accent setting is great. This enables you to pick one colour to stand out in the photograph, while leaving the other colours in the scene as back and white. This creates really arty photographs. Definately my favourite feature on this camera. I would recommend Canon definately.
