Canon Ixus 400 Digital Camera (Canon Digital Ixus 400)

Advantages: Build quality, Picture quality Disadvantages: Poor video recording Coming in at under £170. This is an excellent all round camera. The auto mode makes it a great 'point and shoot' camera but there are enough manual features to keep even the budding professional photographer entertained. It has a solid feel to it and looks good in it's silver casing. Picture quality from the 4 mega pixel lens is excellent, battery life is very good and it has a lot of manual features that are usually found on more expensive camera. As with most cameras you will have to buy a bigger memory card (only 64MB supplied) and a spare battery (approx £5 on ebay). The only downside I feel is the picture quality on video recordings but then it's a camera and not a camcorder so I suppose it's forgivable. The instruction manual is straight forward and easy to follow but not really needed as the camera really is very user friendly. I have owned this camera for approx 2 years and has been 100% reliable. Summary: An excellent camera for both the amateur and professional.
