Advantages: small and compact, 1GB HD 6.0 megapixals

Disadvantages: Price, software is not easy

The cannon web site is easy to use and the name cannon is know in the photography industry as a quality piece of equipment. The Canon Digital Ixus 55 is slightly expensive though, and you may be able to find better value for money. The camera is designed with an all-metal finish and has 5.0 megapixals, which is getting to be a standard now. Fantastic quality though.
This camera can also double up as a mini video camera, for emergency purposes, it has a 1 gigabyte memory stick and lcd screen.

Summary: if you have the money, and no time, get it
