Advantages: Great Point and Shoot Digital Camera

Disadvantages: Some issues with reliability

The Canon Ixus range of digital cameras have a great reputation within the digital camera world. The Canon Ixus 800 IS has a 6 megapixel camera with good sized 2.5 inch LCD screen and also an optical viewfinder. This particular model is also the first in the series to inlcude an Image Stabiliser which is able to combat the troublesome camera shake that is commonly encountered.

The Camera is a great point and shoot digital camera with an extended optical zoom lens to 4x, which gives the camera an effective focal length of 35-140mm which is good for a camera of its class. There are 14 different scene modes, which is certainly enough for the average user and the camera also sports a good manual mode for the more advanced user that would like more control when taking shots.

Aesthetically, the camera is beautiful with curves in all the right places. On top of this, the camera is wonderfully easy to use for even the most novice of users. And, most importantly, the camera shoots very good quality pictures that, for a camera of its class, are difficult to beat. Some users have had issues with the reliability of the camera and found faults in the durability of the camera. Something i have not expereinced and so cannot reliably comment upon.

This camers is able to combines, style, ease of use and quality into an affordable package, one of the best in its class.
