Advantages: Pre-loaded camera settings make taking gorgeous pictures easy for everyone

Disadvantages: I can't put it down!

The Ixus 85 IS is a slick, compact powerhouse piece of technology. Much more then just a point and shoot, it bridges the gap between mass market digital cameras and the coveted cam of the professionals, the digital SLR.
I have had my Ixus 85 for about 8 months now and I am still surprised about the quality and diversity of the shots it manages to capture. I take lots of pictures at night clubs and gigs, and just by flicking around with the standard pre-loaded settings I have some shots that not only am I proud of but that others are captivated by. With 10 mega pixels any of these shots can be replicated in the highest quality. Day shots are crystal clear, red eye is minimal but the one area where this camera really excels is Macro shots. I have some portraits in Macro mode which are simply breathtaking. I am complete beginner in photography but this camera has allowed me the flexibility to take some great shots but also has the capability for you to develop you skills with full creative control (comes with a manual mode setting for the more advanced photographer).
Well worth the price tag.
