The Canon Ixus 850 IS, is a camera that is attractive and chic. As well as being a device for taking photos, the camera is also quite a stylish fashion accessory with its elegant and stylish finish. A brilliant camera for simple point and shoot. It takes excellent pictures without having to fiddle through constant adjustments. The Image stabilisation works really well and almost everything on the camera is very easy to use. The screen is big, bright and easy to see. On top of all this, it really looks good as well and has a reassuring feel of quality to the build. We took it on our honeymoon to South America and have some great memories as a result!

My only (small!) gripe is that there is no indication of the battery life until the battery is about to run out! so that's not so helpful..

General I bought this camera in the summer (07) especially for my holidays in egypt and i was more than satisfied with the performance of the camera. The quality is very good especially for normal users (i.e. family); professionals might have a different opinion; Not only the size but also the user friendly interface are clear benefits of this camera. Quality I took pictures in the sunniest conditions and in bad weather conditions. Both conditions do not really have a influence of the camera as it still delivers great quality. i like the look and feel. It is fairly small for my big hands but works very well in point and shoot with good quality pictures. Auto focus and flash both work well. Good optical zoom. Good viewfinder that zooms with camera, and large bright display. Many modes and options, some are quite easy to identify and use like self-timer and flash on/off, but others less intuitive to understand and use. The (advanced) manual is quite brief describing these, failing to describe how they work, whcih doesn't help. Fiddly controls.
