Advantages: Good image stabiliser, little shuttle delay, quick start up time

Disadvantages: The viewfinder is inaccurate when framing scenes

The Canon Ixus 850 IS, is a camera that is attractive and chic. As well as being a device for taking photos, the camera is also quite a stylish fashion accessory with its elegant and stylish finish. The camera itself is quite compact and lightweight, only weighting 175g.

This lightweight camera, makes it less effort to use it for prolonged period of time especially during travelling where taking photos can become like a chore even a workout if you have a heavy camera.

Initially the power button which is placed onto of the camera which be mistaken for an indicator led due to its design which can be quite funny if you ask someone to use it, and see them struggling to find the power button.

When taking photos you will not be let down by the quality, since the camera has quite a decent exposure accuracy and dynamic range that truly brings the photo to life.

The lens which is wide-angle 28 mm makes it a great camera if you often take photos of large groups of people or objects, because it would have a wider range which it can capture.

The good placement of the buttons and controls makes it easy to use the camera without having to actually put a lot of attention into doing so. The menu system and functions are all well structured, making them easy to find.

There is a very short shuttle delay which is just 0.3 seconds, which is the amount of time it takes to actually record/take the photo after you press the button. This means there is not one special moment that you will miss.

The battery stamina of the camera is quite impressive, if you are a keen photographer, it would be worth it to purchase a separate battery to give you the extra shots that you might want. The image stabiliser works quite well, which means you won't have to be still like a tripod when taking photos with this camera.

Summary: This camera excels in most aspects, with the exception of its viewfinder being a bit inaccurate
