Advantages: Has more manual settings such as white-balance, fantastic photos
Disadvantages: The ISO setting could be higher
The Canon Ixus 90 IS, looks promising even just by looking at it, with its retro styling and classy aesthetic appearances. However, this camera is not just a pretty face, its functions and features also make this quite a powerful camera in a compact package.
The camera does not have on board memory capacity, but it is supplied with a 32 megabyte Secure Digital (SD) Card. All together there are twelve individual scene modes which will give you the opportunity to choose the one that makes your photos look best, depending on the lighting, distance and other factors.
It also has five different white-balance settings which are preset that should be suited to most situations, if not you can always manually change the white balance to exactly how you want it to be.
flash can be change to set its strength, which again is useful especially during low light conditions. However there are no manual settings to change the focus. And it does not have a particular mode that is reserved for shutter speed or aperture.
The camera also has a image stabiliser function which is usually a problem when the camera is on zoom and a minor shake occurs, despite that it is still a useful functions especially if you are keen on taking photographs without having to stop walking.
It has a high ISO setting of 1600, which is useful to cut down on the amount of blur that usually occurs in dark conditions. For occasional and amateur photography this would probably be enough, however it might be a problem if you specifically take photos of objects at night or in low light areas.
The camera has a quite start up time, only taking a mere one and a half second to turn on, between shots, it has a 2 seconds delay before the next one can be taken. When you press the shutter button, the camera takes about 0.5 seconds to take the picture, which is quite fast for a compact camera.
Summary: This is good camera overall, with manual settings if you feel creative. Other than the low ISO limit
