Canon Digital Ixus 900 Ti
Advantages: Powerful processing capabilities, short delays
Disadvantages: In dark conditions, you need flash to get a relatively good photo
The new and improved Canon Ixus 850 IS, which brings high expectations solely based on its looks. Classy and stylish, sums on the camera. It has a sleek body that is complimented by an elegant finish, the colour contrast caused by the various colours does make it an eye candy.
The controls and buttons are ergonomically placed, which means it is relatively easy to use the camera single handed if required. Most importantly, once you pick up this camera, you feel it is built sturdily and robustly, it is capable of withstanding the occasional knock or drop.
The display screen is quite well suited for the job, being reasonably easy to view at various angles. It also has a viewfinder which is can be a different experience of taking photographs or the only alternative if you are low on battery.
Not being just a pretty face, the camera has a 10 megapixel resolution which is good enough to print enlarged prints of your photographic artwork or creative shots. With a bit of creativity, you could start using these large prints as personal gifts to others.
The camera is quite fast at all of its processing task. It takes less than two seconds to turn on, even when shooting itself, the camera is capable of taking shot after shot whilst in normal mode without taking too much time to process. Its burst capabilities are also quite decent, being able to capture moving objects with enough detail and clarity.
However, it becomes slightly disappointing when you try to take photos in darker conditions, although the camera has a decent ISO range which in theory is supposed to make taking photographs at night perfect. It does face the problem of having noise if you do decide to capture photographs at night without using the flash.
Summary: A good camera, but you would need to use flash for shots at night, but it performs well during day
