This is a good camera for occasional photography, but not if you want better images

The Canon Ixus I7 is what defines a stylish camera, with its vibrant colours and sleek design, you'll be sure to turn a few head when you use this camera. The camera is quite small and it is also quite light, only weight a mere 123 grams, which makes it comfortable to use throughout the day, especially whilst travelling, where there is also too many photographs to capture.

The camera does lack a viewfinder which is not a disastrous but a useful feature to have, especially when your battery is low or you are shooting in intense sunlight conditions. Which leaves the LCD display screen which is not tiny but it is still quite small, only measuring 37 mm by 27 mm.

Despite its size, the display screen is quite good at showing high quality images that have been captured. There are also extra features such as face detection that really is handy when you are able to just press the shuttle button and allow the camera to do the rest from focusing properly and adjusting to suit the shooting conditions.

When capturing videos, the quality is quite impressive, producing a good frame rate and overall quality that is higher than what you would except from a digital camera.

However, you are limited to the digital zoom capabilities of the camera when recording a video and not its optical zoom capabilities, which is annoying because sometimes the subject goes out of your zoom range and you lose focus.

For most scenarios the digital zoom does help a bit, but is definitely better than not being able to zoom at all. Overall, the image quality is just average wit nothing to shout about. The camera's batteries are quite small in size and surprisingly its battery life is great.

The camera has a reasonably high ISO setting of 1600, which is ideal for most shooting conditions for the average photographer. However, the camera does lack having more manual settings that would be useful to have when trying to capture a creative shot.
