Advantages: 8mp, and takes most older canon accessories, great image quality

Disadvantages: Light, small, poorly constructed, not erganomic....

This is my personal opinion of the camera, however i would urge you to try it for yourself. I bought one and have since sold it after only a few months, i was vastly disapointed with it, i now use a pentax *ist dl.

Ok, first impressions, from the moment i picked it up i was disappointed (having had an old eos 620 i was expecting a solid build) it felt cheap and plastic, and small in my hands (and i admit i have small hands) it didnt even sit right, the grip is too small and it immediately slipped to the left and that made it uncomfortable to hold.
It also feels too light for an slr and the overall build quality doesnt inspire confidence in canon at all. The bundled 18-55mm lens feels cheaply constructed, and has a rotating end lens (therefore polarising filters and the like are as good as useless). One good thing so far though is the ability to use older lenses and the like (though a note, dont use older flash guns as they run on a different voltage and can fry your circuitary in the camera).
Oh and one other albeit minor irritation the shutter doesnt sound/feel like any other slr ive used and i was confused at first wether the camera had taken a picture, very smooth but for me too smooth, as i like the clunk of the mirror and shutter.

Ok the good part, the actually image quality that is produced is outstanding, the camera is responsive and mostly accurate, it has plently of presets for the less expeiranced user. the autofocus is good and the bundled lens responds well despite my views on quality. The camera offers plenty of scope for complete novice to expeirianced user. Its burst fire is good
~ 2.8fps i think.
The quality of the results are fantastic, very little noise in the pictures til around iso 1600, some apparent at 800 too.

Overall great image quality/handling ( though takes a while to get used to layout as its not always logical), though poor build quality

Summary: Poor build quality/design, goodhandling, excellent image quality
