For dramatic mid-action shots, the EOS 1000D allows continuous shooting of large JPEG images at speeds of up to 3 frames per second, until the memory card is full. With a card, this lets you shoot up to 514 images without a pause. A wide-area Auto Focus system uses 7 separate focusing points to lock onto subjects fast. The central focus point enables focusing even under low-light or low-contrast conditions. Canon's built-in dust prevention system guards images against the effects of dust in three ways: reducing dust generated inside the camera, shaking dust from the sensor each time the camera is turned on or off, and mapping stubborn dust spots for removal with the provided Digital Photo Professional software. Canon along with Nikon have for years been known as the kings of camera`s but with things changing rapidly in the DSLR market Canon had to think fast. All of Canons recent releases have been at the expensive end of the market and they have been rapidly losing ground to the likes of Nikon and the new kids on the block (Sony). The release of the Canon EOS 1000D in June this year (2008)was an attempt to get back in the entry level market and whilst I think it should have the desired effect I am still not convinced they have done enough to tempt people away from the less expensive Sony option. Many people myself included thought that the new Canon ... Read the complete review

After years and years of wanting a DSLR, I finally saved up enough money to be able to afford one. So, obviously, I went straight into looking at the two best known companies for cameras; Nikon and Canon. I was particularly drawn to the Canon EOS 450D. Then, came across this, the EOS 1000D. It's fair to say that there are differences between the two cameras. For example, the EOS 1000D has 10.1 Megapixels, whereas others have as many as 12. I found, that they weren't necessary though. The 1000D takes incredible photos, even with less. Unless you wish to blow your picture up to the size of billboards, then you haven't got to worry about the different amount of ... I bought this camera around 6 months ago, and well at first was very impressed with it as it was my first DSLR, its a nice feeling camera is very easy to use i would recommend it for any beginner photographer over the 450D as the 450D comes with IS on the lens and learning how to shoot without is something everyone should be able to do. the camera does create alot of noise in low light so for users that want to just use AF without playing with around in manual you will get a lot of this. without the IS photos can come out bad but as i said you do get used to this as most cheaper lenses do not have IS on them. only bad thing about this camera that i ... I managed to pick this up reasonably cheap from Argos. For the full specs I'd recommend looking this up on amazon or the canon website. The review will focus on why this is a good camera for the beginner. If you are used to millions of scene modes and point and shoot style compacts but want to gain more control over your photography then this is a pretty good place to start. The camera has a large dial on the top right where you select your mode, you have access to full automatic mode where the camera will do everything for you and you just have to shoot. You'll be wanting to move away from this soon. Next step up are the scene modes, although ... Read the complete review

The canon 1000D is an excellent camera for keen enthusiasts wanting a little more from a camera compared to a conventional digital camera. The excellent thing about the 1000D is you can get a huge variety of lenses for the camera. so you can use ut for every type of photography, sports, portrait, animal, wildlife. It's light and very simple to use. You can get the hang of it really quickly. You can buy a variety of accsessories such as external flashes (which i recomend if you want a better pertrait photo) and battery clips for that extra battery life. The 1000D is 10megapixels and has a fast shutter speed. It takes something like 3 frames per secoudn which is excellent ... Read the complete review
