I like 1 series cameras, I have owned a lot of them (1ds2, 1d3, 1d4, 1ds3), they are reliable, an important quality to a professional photographer.
The 1ds3 is the best canon camera ever made, here's why.
The 5d3 might have a tiny advantage in image quality, but the 5d3 will die of water damage and quit before the 1ds3 will
Ok so maybe 'best camera ever' is a little hyperbolic, but at low iso it's better than the 1dx (more megapixels), at high ISO of course it loses to the 1dx not only in terms of image quality but also in terms of operational ability, the top end of 3200 comes way too early when the light starts to drop- if you shoot real life events in poor light the 1ds3 will cause you to lose shots. Luckily for me I usually shoot events with flash, so I am fine to use this camera, but if you need to shoot faster than 3200, you're out of luck.
When I first got the 1ds3 I immediately sold my 1ds2, it has the image quality i'd learned to love from the 5d2 and 1ds2 and combined it with the speed and ease of use of the 1d3- things like 'my menu', auto ISO and one handed operation are worth the upgrade price alone, don't get the 1ds2 unless you really think you can live with it.
The 1dx is a better camera, in some respects the 5d3 is a better camera. But remember that the 1ds3 is about 1/3 the price of a 1dx, and also less than a 5d3. There are reasons to buy the 1ds3- if you want a solid, reliable full frame camera you can take in the rain, but you don't shoot sports or need to shoot video, then the 1ds3 could be your perfect camera- don't pay more for the 5d3 or 1dx unless you really need it, the 1ds3 and 1d3 are both quality cameras.
This camera is truly one of my favorites. With its sleek new look and its dynamic lenses with great snapshot capabilities, it goes a long way. I also like this camera because it is easier to use than its predecessor. The functions are more organized, and easier to acess when trying to take difficult shots.
This camera captures very good quality shots. Every picture is superb and very sharp. This camera makes my photographs seem better! The resolution is very high class, and is spot on. I can take pictures with this camera all day long! The long battery life allows me to do this. I love not having to charge my camera after every shooting session. I dont know what they did, but the battery life is excellent.
The downside to this work of art is the size. It is kind of bulky at times, and it is cumbersome when I try to take pictures at difficult angles. The brightside however is that this camera will last a decade. Water damage is a thing of the past. As long as you dont drown it in a pool, it should be fine. I left mine out in the rain on accident, and it was not harmed in any way!
I have used this product for about 5 months now, and I couldnt be happier. It was kind of costly though; my parents had to help me pay for it. It is more expensive than I would normally pay for a camera like this, but I think it is well worth it. I hope you think it is too!
I have used the Mark 3 since June 2007. It is the fastest focusing camera that I know of. I used 20D and 5D. Mark 3 works extrememly well. I will not go back to the other models. Once you have a Mark 3 in your hands, no other camera feels like or works like it that I know of. I take over 100,000 files a year and this camera captures the action and the stills above and beyond. 3200 ISO can print 8 x 10 and higher if need be. The colour is outstanding compared to 12 bit colour. I use the viewfinder for reading my settings of the camera all the time as I change the ISO lots , the shutter speed and the f-stops.
The camera experienced focusing, error 99 and other minor details. Canon replaced the camera without question. The new camera (blue dot) works like a charm. So much that I bought a second Mark 111.
You won't be disappointed with this great camera
