Canon EOS 300DThe EOS 300D's 6.3 megapixel CMOS sensor provides stunning image resolution, allowing detailed prints to be made up to A3. Canon's high-performance, purpose built DIGIC processor links all key camera functions together and allows for high-speed continuous shooting. Images can be recorded simultaneously in both RAW and JPEG formats for greater post-shooting flexibility. Newest Review: ... good piece of kit. Both lenses are capable of returning very good results. However.... there are some drawbacks. I have ... more |

I have craved a DSLR for years now and finally my dream came true in the form of the Canon 300D. Having used the film version of this camera to great effect I was really excited to get my hands on what has been reported to be the best 'prosumer' or entry level digital camera. As you would expect the build quality and ergonomics are first class, the controls are clear and easy to operate. The menu functions are well laid out and understandable even for a digital novice. The camera came with an 18 - 55mm lens that does a good job and the Tamron 70 - 300mm zoom, which was also part of the package at that time, is a very good piece of kit. Both lenses are capable ... Summary: The EOS is a SLR camera that happens to use digital media. It is not a mainstream digital camera which has all sorts of wizzo features. As an SLR is it an outstanding new product that opens new worlds because of the instant feedback and no cost per photo that film SLRs incur. This is my 3rd digital camera. The first was rubbish. My second, a Sony F707 flash failed just after the wnty expired, and its fixed lense limited wide-angle room an architecture shots. So on a trip to the US, I bought the Canon 300D (there called the Rebel). Even though it had only been out 2 months, DELL mailorder was willing to match the price of a shonky NYC internet ... Great thought has gone into the design, which is simple, and easy to remember where the controls are and what they do. After taking my first few photographs I was amazed by the professional quality it produced. Image quality is superb offering a high quality sensor to catch all that detail. Images were detailed, crisp and clear, as you would expect with plenty of manual control. Even in auto mode, the camera coped well in various conditions. But i feel that the built in flash maybe could have been stronger. The high speed 7-point wide area AF with AF points are superimposed in the viewfinder. The Camera is Compatible with the full range of over 50 Canon ... Read the complete review

The Canon EOS 300D (Digital Rebel) is a dream come true for most "prosumer" photographers. Unlike most digital SLR's that come along with obscene pricetags, the Rebel fits the bill for your average guy. The Digital Rebel has a bit of a learning curve compared to most other digital cameras. While most should be able to pick one up, find the on button, look into the viewfinder, point, and shoot - this is not even beginning to tap into the resources this mega-camera offers its owner. My favourite feature this far has been the ultra-fast shutter speed. There is not the standard 5 second lag found in any consumer level camera, it's reduced to 0.3 seconds. This ... This camera is based on the 10D which is a professional camera. Basically the 10D has been made more affordable by putting it in a hardy plastic case and removing some of the functions. However the 300D STILL DOES EVERYTHING YOU COULD EVER WANT. It has virtually every function of any non-digital camera. You really could not want for more unless you wanted bigger format. The picture quality is superb - as it is the same as the 10D which is relied on by professionals. 6 mega pixels and the camera can handle almost any exposure environment you can throw at it. It is a ground breaking camera which is the first to target the amateur market. Nikon are making a similar ... Read the complete review
