The 450D was a great fit for me (Canon EOS 450D)

I spent a long time considering whether I should buy the Sony A200, the Nikon D60 or the Canon 450D. My brother bought an A200 and then bought an older Minolta lens. The lens cost him 20 quid - multiply that by 10 to get what it would cost for the 450D. But I bought the 450D anyway and I'm very happy with it.

The 450D has great build quality and more features than the A200 or the D60. Although I'd never owned one, I had some experience of SLRs before I bought the 450D. I knew about aperture, ISO, shutter speed but I didn't know about composition or how to use light. The Canon 450D has helped me pick these things up and, as photography is not my primary hobby, I'll be happy with this camera for hopefully five years. For anyone whose experience and inclinations match mine then the 450D is the best camera you might want to buy, it's the luxury end for what I need. If I just wanted to take better family pictures and wasn't interested in photography as art then I would recommend saving the money and going for the A200 or the D60, or even the 1000D, Canon's basic SLR.

Summary: A perfect camera for me.
