Advantages: great quality pictures, reasonable weight, good array of functions
Disadvantages: None
This was the first DSLR (Digital single-lens reflex) camera I'd ever purchased. Having always been quite interested in photography I decided to splash out and buy a more expensive camera. This one was rather pricey at over £600. However I thought it looked and sounded like a great camera and also it was a good deal as along with a 35mm standard lens I also got a macro lens, battery, 1xSD memory card and a camera bag. There was also an offer of £50 cash back. All I had to do to receive this was to send off my receipt to Jessops. This took almost 2 weeks to receive this.
I was impressed with how the camera looked. It seemed a good quality built product. I was quite surprised by the weight of it. It was lighter than I'd imagined it would be and having small hands I was able to hold it fine and this felt comfortable.
When I first used the camera I was a bit confused with all the buttons and menus and also sub menus on the display. It took quite some time to get used to it all but the instructions that were provided were clear and very useful which made it quicker to get to grips with.
With a good clear large LCD screen on the back this is great for viewing the pictures straight afterwards. These show for a few seconds after they've been taken. You can also view all the photos on the camera as well.
When bringing the camera up to your face to look through the view finder to take a photo the LCD screen automatically turns blank. This happens when it's set to automatic setting. If you use it on manual setting then you can use the LCD screen as a live view.
This is a great camera, capable of taking superb, sharp photos. The lens that I got with the camera is off good quality. I have thought about getting another zoom lens though. I think the buttons , dials and switches on this camera are pretty well laid out and quite straightforward enough to use, well when you discover what they're all for.
A USB lead came with the camera but it's not something I've ever had to use as my computer has a card reader so all I need to do is remove the card from the camera and slot it into the card reader on the PC.
I'm not an experienced photographer. I just have an interest in taking photos of wildlife, scenery, family etc. I think this is an excellent camera both for varying levels of experience.
Summary: An excellent camera, well worth the money
