      decent cheap camera

This camera was bought a few years back as a cheap *I don't want to loose my good one* festival camera.

      **Pros**
I am not going to list all the specifications as I feel these can be brought up easily on a google search (dooyoo has them under technical details)

This has all the standard camera setting such as night mode, low light ,sunset mode .I haven't played about with much of them as I use the camera for specific things I tend to leave it on the same setting
The video quality is decent. I like using this setting at concerts etc and it works fine.I also have used it as a webcam and the on screen quality is good.

Cheap-again for concerts, festivals etc I don't want to be carrying around an expensive camera. Not for other drunks but for me. If I am clumsy when sober what am i like drunk...

Good battery life- lasted a 5 day festival with constant videos/photo taking and no charger.

Face detection works well with people but not so well with animals.

Takes an sd card- these are relatively cheap. One point is it doesn't take an sdhc card (basically if your camera takes the sdhc card it should take sd but not all older cameras that take sd take sdhc if that makes sense)it does take an sdxc memory card but ive never used them.

      **cons**
I cant seem to think of that many off hand.
In standard settings when you click there is a slight delay between pressing the button and taking the picture so its not good for nature photography

The picture quality when using the zoom is not that great either.

This comes with web up loader software - its not really a con as such I just think that its not that necessary Youtube etc make it easy enough to put videos on the site without having to install pointless software on your pc.

After owning it for 2 years the lens sometimes sticks when using it constantly.

      **Overall**
I would say that this is a nice camera for beginners as it does quite a lot

      **Price/ where to buy**
This costs £43 from amazon used .. I don't think i paid that much more for it new.

An overall great, fun, sleek and stylish camera with many functions that takes great pictures!

This sleek and stylish camera is great for all times of the day and night. With many functions to choose from you can't go wrong with this! I received this as a gift and I was very pleased with it. It did take me a while to get used to but I got there in the end. With lots of buttons and on-screen functions I just wasn't used to having on previous cameras I have owned.

      It's features include:

      Slim 12.1MP IXUS.
28mm wide, 4x zoom, Optical IS.
      6.8cm (2.7") PureColor LCD II.
      Smart auto, Smart Flash Exposure.
Face Detection, FaceSelf-Timer, Auto Red-Eye Correction.
      Motion Detection Technology.
      i-Contrast.
      DIGIC 4.
      Creative shooting modes.
      VGA Movies.
      Battery Li-Ion.

I recommend getting a case or a protective cover for this one as I tend to find that it gets grubby very quickly, I am constantly rubbing at it to clean it (as I don't have a case for it yet).
But please bear in mind, this sort of camera may only be for the technical minded. I wouldn't recommend it as a gift to your grandparents or a young child as they might get very confused with it. The on-screen display and functions along with the amount of button pressing you have to do could be very frustrating to the not so technical minded. Apart from that, everything else is great and it is by far the best camera I have owned! It also comes in many colours apart from Silver. You can get Black, Pink and Green. Which ever colour you decide, you can guarantee it looks good whatever!

One of the best cameras for a beginner photographer

This is the second Canon camera I have owned and it doesn't disappoint. After I lost my first one I decided to change to a different brand, unfortunately it just wasn't as good as my previous so I decided to go back and I'm glad I did.

This is a wonderful camera for its price tag and the beginner photographer. It very durable and has no issues with being knocked around in my bag all day or flung around on nights out, and it still manages to take brilliant pictures. It has a very good zoom and different features such as sepia/black & white/timer so that you can be in the picture too.

The menus are easy to scroll through even for an idiot like me and it double checks with you before you delete anything accidentally. The buttons are comfortable to press and easy to find in the dark.

Overall I would recommend this camera to buy as long as you're quite realistic about what you're going to get for the price you pay. It's great for the average person to capture memories on, if you want something more professional I would recommend spending a bit more on something more high spec.

overall great camera for the average person, or someone new to digital cameras

The Canon Ixus 105 camera is a great aquisition for the average photographer or any new beginer to digital cameras. This is the first digital camera I have ever used. I must admit I only use it like the average person, whether its capturing moments on days out with the family or taking high quality pictures to sell or share with other on the internet. Since first using it, I have never had any problems. The camera has always been reliable and the main thing to me was how simple it was to use for a complete novice like myself. I also think that it looks very stylish for the features which it presents unlike some of the more bulkier models. Aswell as the amzing pictures it captures, it can also be used as a video recorder. You can also wacth the videos captured on your camera, through a tv set with the leads supplied. this gets a massive thumbs up for me.

Sleek, smooth and sophisticated, Canon IXUS 105 merges stand-out looks with advanced technology, delivering the iconic blend of style and imaging excellence the IXUS brand is famous for.

IXUS 105 includes the latest DIGIC 4 processing, which complements the exceptional design with high quality images that feature excellent color, resolution and low noise. Like all IXUS models, the camera is also incredibly easy to operate, making it simple for users to capture excellent pictures.

Designed and manufactured to premium standards, IXUS 105 features genuine Canon 28mm wide-angle 4x zoom lenses - perfect for group photos and landscapes at the widest setting, and great for portraits or shooting distant subjects using the zoom. Canon's renowned optical Image Stabilizer system also counters camera shake, helping to prevent image blur, particularly when shooting at full zoom or in low light conditions.

Smart Auto with Scene Detection Technology helps users take great photos by automatically detecting the shooting scene, giving users the freedom to simply concentrate on taking the picture. Detecting 18 different scenes for the IXUS 105, Smart Auto is able to determine a wide range of shooting conditions - such as Portrait, Landscape or Macro - before applying the optimum settings required to capture the perfect shot.

i-Contrast analyzes images to deliver perfect exposure, adding light and detail to dark sections of images while reducing blow out in brighter areas. Smart Flash Exposure intelligently adjusts the flash to suit both the subject and shooting conditions - in daylight, for example, Smart Flash Exposure will detect and eliminate face shadows caused by bright sunlight by engaging the flash.

Motion Detection Technology combats blur by monitoring camera shake, brightness and subject movement, and automatically sets the shutter speed and ISO level to deliver blur-free results. Servo AF/AE technology also tracks moving subjects, maintaining both focus and exposure right up until the moment the user takes the shot.

Face Detection Technology provides perfect people shots with the minimum of effort. Up to 35 faces can be identified at once, with the camera ensuring subjects are well exposed and in focus. Auto Red-Eye correction also detects and removes any red-eye immediately after a picture is taken.

FaceSelf-Timer makes large group shots and self portraits simple by using Face Detection Technology to activate the shutter. Instead of the user setting a timer and rushing into position, FaceSelf-Timer cleverly monitors the scene and waits for an additional face to appear before taking the photo two seconds later. Multiple shots can also be taken to ensure the desired shot is captured, allowing users to get the picture they want every time.
