Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: Cost of battery charger
I have the Cannon Power shot S350. This is a great camera for the casual user. Easy to use and understand. There is only one digital effect option (creating panoramic photos) so there is little to change and adjust beyond the resolution. The zoom is only a 2x. If you have a USB port on your computer the photos will download quickly. When not in use the lens retracts into the camera leaving the front flat. This feature allows me to feel better about not damaging it when not in use and being carried. As when you purchase any digital camera - they eat through the batteries and you should take into account the price of a rechargeable battery kit when making your selection. Also you will need to purchase a camera case as well. The battery that comes with it is lithium and is not carried in normal stores. I could only find it at Best Buy. The 4 main reasons I chose this camera was 1. It was the lowest price one available at the 3.3 and above megapixel size (£540) at 2. It was the smallest camera in its' class of picture quality (4.1 x 2.7 x 1.3 inches (W x D x H)) 3. The memory card that comes with it is the largest among comparable cameras (It still only holds 15 photos at the highest resolution at the lowest quality you can fit over 100 on the same card)You can always purchase new and larger memory cards for an additional fee. 4. The Camera is 3.34 megapixels that translates into picture quality that is equivalent to an 35mm 8X10 photo.
