Advantages: Quality, Features, Movies with Sound

Disadvantages: Battery Life

I recently purchased a Canon A300 Powershot from Amazon, after a lot of research I decided this was the best camera for the price. I only paid £160.00, Dixons, Jessops, Jacobs etc are selling the same camera between £199 - £230. But enough of the waffle these were the deciding factors in my purchase.

1. Its 3.2 Megapixel resolution (photo quality 2,048x 1,536 pixels or printing A4 size)
2. Movie capability upto 640*480 with sound
3. The ability to store a 60 sec soundbite with each camera
4. 5.1 Digital Zoom
5. Photo effects of Vivid, Neutral, Low Sharpening, Sepia and Black&White
6. Macro and Infinity modes
7. Intelligent flash and focus capabilities
8. Stitch up to 36 photos together for panoramic shots
9. Movie editing on the camera
10. Direct printing to enabled printers (which I have)
11. Compact Flash (16Meg is supplied - about 17 very large photos (A4 size)
12. Its size, only being 4.3 x 2.3 x 1.4 inches and weighing only 6.2oz.
13. 1.5inch LCD screen, and a photo viewfinder.

The list goes on and on. The quality is excellent, the colours are true and its so simple to use. Just point and click.

Saying that you do have the facility to change and customise the camera, you can even get the camera to 'Say Cheese' for you when you are about to take the shot.

The camera only takes 2 AA batteries which are used up quickly, especially when the LCD and flash are on, so I would recommend a battery charger with high capacity batteries (2000mAH NiHM).

I'm sure there are better cameras out there, but not for the price. Definetly good value for money.

Oooh, you've been offered some good advice below ;)

It does sound like a really nice piece of kit!

I agree, some explanation of the features would be useful for those that don't know about digicams. Also maybe a bit more info about your experiences, eg how big can you print the photos with them still looking sharp, etc etc. Still useful, nonetheless. (I need to get a new camera at some point, but will probably go for one with more options, not just a point 'n' click).
