great value machine (Canon Powershot A50)

Advantages: good overall value Disadvantages: default features
Very small Easy to use exposure adjustment (+/- 2 stops Affordable Uses easy to find CompactFlash. I bought a 48 and 32meg card to go with the stock 8meg card. These three cards lasted me fine for a 1 month vacation of large/fine images. * It doesn't show blooming on extreme highlights like many digital cameras. * Very saturated colors, takes fantastic pictures of flowers. * 28mm equiv wide angle. I don't understand why digital cameras aren't coming with good wide angle lenses. A 28mm is necessary for reasonable indoor shots (a 24 would be even better). I bought the A50 over the S10 just for this feature. Controls make sense. I only needed the manual to find the shortcut to deleting (set + -) and exposure control (again, set + -). The default exposure has trouble quite often. I find myself using manual exposure most of the time. It tends to overhighlight things, so many of my pictures are taken at -1 (or around there). * Slow to go from record to play mode. * It didn't come with rechargable batteries. Summary: |
