Advantages: Adjustable viewing screen 10 MP Takes 4 AAs and its fast. A1 Video

Disadvantages: would have been better with IS lens and 1600 ISO

The A 640 Taken it to Oz for the testing, Under water in its 40 metre housing and From Sydney to Brisbane . happy with the results . for a compact camera with 10 MP on image quality and with Video I am amazed. Superb for under water use read the set backs on the housing. for close up nature shots of insects. this camera has out performed some photos taken with close up lenses I have taken with my SLRs. It Takes 4 AA batteries that make this camera ideal for use underwater. Long battery life if you use NMH 2300 Its seems to save on battery life even with Alkaline's. Surprised how long they lasted against my A 70. I could say they seem to last longer. The focus and time on pressing the button to take the picture is much faster. All features on this camera Thumbs up. One draw back that would have topped this for under water use and night photos, Although it has everything you need including 800 ISO 1600 could have been added with IS lens. May be next time! This is now my little back up when out and about.

The main feature I like about this camera is that the screen is adjustable so like the old TLRs or Waist level finder cameras. It can be used at all angles above the crowds and in the under growth.

Summary: Well done canon on this HOT camera for compact use its fun!
