Canon Powershot A70

Description: Model ID 8400A013AA / Canon PowerShot A70 - Digital camera - 3.2 Mpix - optical zoom: 3 x - supported memory: CF / The Canon PowerShot A70 ... more
Canon Powershot A70 ... gives you all the benefits of digital photography in an easy to use package. You can shoot, review, and then share your photos far more quickly and conveniently than was ever possible with analog. The PowerShot A70 has a 3.2-million pixel sensor which lets you print with total clarity in sizes up to A4. Its zoom lens can bring objects approximately 10x closer (with combined optical and digital zoom). Canon's DIGIC processor works ultra fast to process all the camera's electronic functions simultaneously, from Auto White Balance to Autofocus. It also lets you shoot at a fast 2.5 frames per second, but because it works so quickly, the processor uses less power, so the battery lasts longer.

With Canon's AiAF five point auto focus system, any subject in the foreground of the scene is accurately focused even if it is not in the center of the frame. If you want to focus on something further away, you can also override this feature. Canon's direct print function allows you to plug the camera straight into the printer, so you can print without a computer. You can also plug the PowerShot A70 straight into your TV, or import the pictures into your computer and send them via e-mail. The Canon PowerShot A70 is the ideal camera for capturing family activities or for people wishing to explore the possibilities of Digital Photography. The camera allows any enthusiastic beginner to record and share their experiences with loved ones, spontaneously and economically.

Yet I would say that I made a good choice at that time. As compared to the latest pieces available, this one is a lot bulkier and thick but I have never had any complaints with the results. Premium Review Canon Powershot A70: Easy to use camera, but one that doesn't last long! (550 words)

I got the Canon Powershot A70 as a leaving present from work. When I got it, it was one of the best digital cameras on the market, now it isnt nothing special considering most mobile phones come with more mpix than this camera. When I first got it I immediately started snapping. The pictures were crisp and sharp and could be easily modified using paint shop pro. In terms of the functions they are really easy to use, literally just a case of changing the shooting nozel to the function you require and get snapping. I think it is quite possibly the easiest camera I have used! The video function was okay, it was good enough to capture the sound (which wasnt of an ...  Read the complete review

I bought this Canon Powershot A70 after having bought a kodak digi camera (my first digital camera). I thought that Canon would be a better choice because I had prior experience with Canon photographic equipments and it's a known brand in the market. At the time this camera was the latest and considered one of the best with 3.2 mega pixels and crisp and great pictures. ofcourse now 3.2 mega pixels is nothing when there are cameras available with more than 10 mega pixels and better results. Premium Review Canon Powershot A70: Powershot A70 - Problems (123 words)
by - written on 17/04/04 (Somewhat useful, 616 readings)
Rating:

Firstly, the niggles... Just before the end of the standard 12 month warranty period, the shutters covering the lens failed to open fully. Also, redeye reduction is noticeably poor, but being a digital camera, you can always correct this via software. However, the picture quality is otherwise excellent. Have just returned from Disneyland Paris where my camcorder ran out of battery power - the Powershot A70's movie mode came in REALLY useful and gives quite acceptable moving snapshots! A lifesaver!! My wife has poor grip strength and finds thecamera's shape better for holding it (due to the bulge where the batteries go). Buy this camera - other than ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Good Camera! (155 words)
by - written on 06/11/06 (Somewhat useful, 28 readings)
Rating:

A good choice for any beginner. I bought this camera for my techno project amny years ago. I was rather surprised because of the crisp colours and the clear images produced. Although it had only 3.2mp, that was enough for a crisp picture, with lots of other details. I never thought much about the controls as I was just into digital camera at that time. Although some of my pictures were either over-exposed and under-exposed, I still had fun using it everywhere I went. The size which was smaller than an SLR made it able to be carried everywhere. Nobody even felt threatened when I was taking pictures, they thought I was doing that because I was ...  Read the complete review
