I don't have this camera, but recently tried a friends. The specs indicate it should be a good camera, and it certainly lives up to it. The 10 mega pixel pictures give a good, clear picture in standard conditions, but can lack in quality in high light conditions. Built into this camera, like a lot of Casio cameras these days is the impressive quick upload to youtube that it allows you. When ever you take a video in this mode, it changes the video size and quality so that it maximises quality when you come to upload, ideal if you do lots of videos and to do so relatively cheaply without having to spend money on a separate video camcorder The lens is of good quality is quite sufficient, a 28mm wide angle lens and this also helps with the 4x optical zoom. The ISO is good when set high, so pictures are as clear as possible. Rechargeable battery as standard is good and will last for a reasonable amount of time, usually about 4 hours, turning it on and off. A simple camera to use, with good pictures produced!
Love this camera, I got it last December 2008.
The camera is so easy to use, power up and press the shutter button and there you have taken a 10.1 meg picture!
The camera also allows you to use the quick settings button, where the camera is pre installed with settings that are good for different environments such as sports or fireworks or night time. All you have to do is select the setting you want to then take the picture and you will see a great image come out.
The camera is really easy to use; it's the perfect size and weight so you are able to hold it just right.
The camera also comes with a nice youtube setting, which allows you to record in a format that is suited for youtube, have used this feature quite a lot and it's fantastic.
The camera has a nice 4 times optical zoom, this is enough for everyday use, you are able to get from one end of a room to another.
It comes with a rechargeable battery which does last long, without having to charge it again.
The camera exceed in natural day light conditions, where I have captured some of the best pictures that I have taken. And for indoors the flash with the camera is great, it's bright enough. The only bad thing about the flash would be its position, right where you hold the camera, so you sort have to adjust your fingers when using the camera, but you then get use to this.
Overall a great camera.
I haven't had much luck with digital cameras in the past, to be fair i sat on one of them and dropped another in a puddle! hmmm...! So after learning a few lessons the hard way, i decided rather than going for the high priced cameras i would go for what i would say is a mid-priced digital camera. With its 10.1 megapixels the images are as you would expect very detailed and large in size. I wouldn't bother buying a camera with much less megapixels as you would be better off not bothering and using your mobile phone camera as most mobiles have good quality cameras integrated these days. I havent really made much use of all the extra features available as i have no need to personally but out of curiosity i found that the settings and features are easy to locate and navigate through. The reasons you should buy this camera in my opinion are as follows;
good quality images and videos
good flash, positioned in the top-middle of the camera so your finger doesn't get in the way of it!
sleek and attractive
Battery life is the best i've known in any camera i've owned
light, easy to hold and carry
user-friendly control pad (you do not have to be a rocket scientist to work out how to change any settings!)
Basically a great all-rounder which i am sure can do just as good a job as the priced-out-of-this-world cameras.
(Oh and this one has already lasted longer than the last two did put together!)
The high resolution, 10.1 megapixel EXILIM Zoom EX-Z100 model features an EXILIM series first - a 4x optical zoom lens that can shoot as wide as 28 mm (equivalent). Also, in addition to the usual recognition technologies, the intelligence of these cameras has been enhanced. They incorporate automatic scene differentiation and allow the shutter to be released automatically, thanks to Casio's commitment to keep improving the convenience offered by digital cameras.
