Casio Exilim EX-Z77
Advantages: Takes photos.
Disadvantages: Difficult to use.
My husband bought me this for Christmas last year as I had asked for a digital camera. He bought it from an independant retailer so I am not sure of the price he paid (but I know I'd have got it cheaper somewhere else!).
At 7.2 MegaPixles I wasn't expecting the best quality images, but it seemed like it would do the job. All I really wanted it for was taking photos of my sons to send/email to relatives etc.
The camera does point and shoot photos fairly easily but the problems start when you try to use the more complicated functions. I am usually good with technology, working most things out with a little fiddling and rarely bothering with instructions.
However, with this camera I found I needed to read the manual carefully to even be able to put on the flash, and despite trying for a while now I am yet to get it to take videos. I don't know whether I have a dud one or if it's just really complicated!
As with most cheap digital cameras there is not a lot of memory and you really need to buy a card.
The battery does not last very long and you have to take it out of the camera to charge it up, which I find annoying.
The delay on it is even longer than the camera on my mobile phone! This is really irritating when trying to photograph the kids as they never stay still long enough for me to get a decent shot.
I don't use this camera much as I find it difficult to use, I use my mobile phone camera for general shots and my old SLR if I want a decent photo. For the price of these cameras you could definitely get a better one from a different brand.
Summary: Don't buy it!
