The Casio Exilim EX-Z700 is a nice compact camera and as easy to use as is really possible. It is also takes excellent quality pictures. I have had this camera for a couple of years and the 7.2 megapixel images are about as good as it is necessary to take; much more and your printer may not illustrate in that much detail, yet you use more memory. I have regularly had pictures blown up to about 12x10" without loss of quality.

The video and sound recording quality are also satisfactory, however maybe not good enough for a dedicated video camera.

The Best Shot mode allows you to select from 36 different settings from sports to fireworks, and sunset to whiteboards. These do have a great effect in the circumstances.

The 3x optical zoom is adequate for most uses, but there are however better ones available.

On a downbeat note, I ought to say that the Casio Exilim models have been known to have lens problems. When mine was only a few months old, it was stood on a table with lens out, knocked over (only a few centimeters onto its face) and the lens had it. On the other hand, maybe this is a sign of a superior and therefore delicate component. Luckily, the shop I bought it from had it sent back to Casio and replaced it free of charge, as it would have cost as much to replace the lens alone. However, if you take care of the camera like I have done since it is an excellent model.
