Advantages: fast downloads

Disadvantages: none

Having just entered the world of digital cameras I did do a fair bit of research before buying ( dooyoo came in very handy here ). I came to the conclusion that downloading your pictures using the supplied leads can take some time & is a drain on battery life.

I took advice as to the merits of a card reader versus a floppy disc adapter,I did not manage to get the same answer from anyone as too which method is the quickest so choice seemed to come down to price, I then found that for my particular camera a Sony the price would be the same.

The very helpful staff at Jessops advised me that a floppy disk adapter was probably my best bet as there would be no leads to keep attatching & unattatching & it could be used on any computer with a disk drive. I therefore went for this option.

The softwear was easy to install & the memory stick slots into the adapter which in turn fits into the floppy disk drive which then downloads instantly.

Floppy disk adapters are available for all forms of storage media & if you don't want the hassle of extra leads provide an ideal solution to downloading your picture quickly.

They have nice people in Jessops. We went in today asking to buy a mains adaptor for our digi camera. The bloke asked us why we needed it and suggested that we bought a smartmedia USB external drive. Not only was it cheaper by £30 its also lightening quick downloading via USB than from the camera.

Buy a camera like the Canon A5 which has a rechargable batterry with a long life span. Read my article on the Canon A5.
