When I looked for a digital camera, I was after a middle of the range one. I didn't want an all-pro camera that would bankrupt me, and I also didn't want a simple point-and-shoot which wouldn't give me complete control over the exposure if I chose to. The Epson does both admirably. There are three different exposure modes from full-auto, to program mode (aperture/shutter priority), to complete manual. This should please the professional photographer's needs, as well as the point-and-shooter. This camera is able to produce 2.1 million pixels, and not the 2.9 as quoted in places. I have owned an 850z for about 6 months now. It has captured about 2000 images for me in that time and I have always been impressed with the quality and resolution of the pics. This is quite something for a sub-500 quid camera, because in my professional life I spend all day capturing and manipulating images from high-end scanners and cameras -- so I am not easily impressed with the quality of consumer kit... Things I like about the camera: 1. Good quality image 2. Easy to use 3. Good software package for Mac users 4. Good range of cables and connectors 5. Particularly easy to use in conjunction with Epson inkjet printers ...
