This is an excellent camera for the novice snapper and a great introduction into the world of digital photography. I was lucky enough to inherit this camera after a member of my family upgraded. True the DX-7 has not got all the bells and whistles of the current models, however, it is a piece of equipment that suits my requirements, i.e. snaps and pics for my website. The camera does have a surprising number of features: 1.8 inch LCD screen It is compact and lightweight There is a choice of resolutions The DX-7 uses Smartmedia Images are downloaded into your PC or MAC via a serial cable. The camera came with a 2MB Smartmedia card that I upgraded to 4MB. This memory card may seem small but with the 640 x 480 resolution (which is ideal for websites) up to 60 frames can be stored on this larger card. The camera is very user friendly and has an automatic picture function. There is also a manual setting mode to allow the more experienced of us to adjust the exposure, flash and white balance. As with all digital cameras that have a LCD display pictures can be viewed immediately and deleted if not up the job. This camera is thirsty when it comes to batteries so I would recommend rechargeables with this or any other digital camera. I would use a mains adaptor when downloading into your PC. So if you want a good, cheap and reliable entry-level camera, and you can still find one, give the DX-7 a try.
