Ideal for website photos (Fujifilm Finepix 1400 Zoom)

This is my third digital camera after dropping my first "box brownie" Agfa ePhoto 307 and then dunking my Fuji DX10 in Poole harbour!

Compared to the first two cameras this is a significant improvement. If you have ever tried to download photos from a digital camera to a PC via a serial cable then you will REALLY appreciate the convenience of USB! For example, with a 4MB card my Fuji DX10 would literally take an hour to download the photos! The Finepix 1400 downloads 16MB in around 30 to 40 seconds!

Although I have reserves on the quality after printing on to paper, my use is strictly for web output and this is more than sufficient for my needs. The lens cover and fairly compact design makes it ideal for popping it into your pocket and carrying around with you wherever you go. The 3x zoom is a great bonus. And the obvious advantage of digital photos is that you can take as many photos as you want and they are free (apart from the initial camera layout, anyway).

One important point - the 4MB card that comes with the camera is very limited. I immediately bought a 16MB card which is good for around 45 photos at 1280 x 960 or around 150 at 640 x 480. I always have the original 4MB card with me as a standby just in case the 16MB card fills up.

Perhaps the major inconvenience with any digital camera is taking it on long trips. When the memory card is full you cannot pop into the local store for a new film!
