Advantages: Great picture quality

Disadvantages: Price, battery life (so far)

I bought the finepix on recommendation. Having use it for a week now I am pleased with it so far. The Finepix is a 2.4 mega pixel camera that has built in software that boosts it output. It's a small camera and it feels weighty and the build quality looks OK. On the top of the camera is a dial that selects the various setting, the rear is the video output that can be operated to take pictures or you can use the view finder to save batteries. The screen is clear and bright although I have noticed that not the whole view is captured that is displayed, I will have to play more to confirm this. It runs on two rechagable Ni--MH AA size batteries that when fully charged are supposed to take around fifty pictures( Not yet but I think my batteries need to be charged a few times yet). The camera takes pictues at 2400x1800, 1280x960 or 640x480 in Fine, Normal or basic mode. The camera uses USB interface using USB mass storage drivers. I use Win 2000 so I did have some problems out of the box but I found update Win 2000 drivers on Fuji site that worked (Microsofts own). When connected the camera acts like a hard drive in My Computer to download the pictures. In operation I have so far found this method practicable.

The quality is outstanding, and the features impressive. You can zoom in on your pictures and move around. There are 4 flash mode, and a self timer. The movie feature works but is more of a novelty than an essential feature but works well and I may yet find a use for it. Th camera has a zoom lens and at 1280x960 and below also has software zoom in addition. The camera comes with a 16 meg smart media card, but I suspect I will need to invest in a larger one very soon. Prices on the street range from around £580 to £700 so I suggest shopping around. I will update the review in a months time or so but in the mean time first impression is a top bit of kit, but at the price it's a bit expensive but if you want a good digital camera I think this one is go
ing to hard to beat as it's quality output is very impressive.
