Advantages: Pocket size, Protective case included, High resolution results
Disadvantages: poor in very low light
Up-date: Fuji have launched the F 410 which delivers 6 million recorded pixels. This has resulted in an internet price for the F 401 of under £230 at a large well known PC supplier. We have just returned from Italy with around 250 shots taken with the camera on max setting automatic mode - they're excellent !! I am no photographer, but My wife & I both have one of these cameras (can use the same charging equipment etc) & have found them invaluable. We have taken numerous superb pictures (in our opinion!) during holidays etc & I have used extensively when on business trips. An ideal companion to this camera is Adobe Photo Shop, which can frequently improve an already good photo, it does however increase file size by up to 70%. The F401 is best considered for ?point & shoot?, but that said it does come with 3 times optical zoom, quality settings to enable 36(4 million pixels) to 490(0.3 million pixels) shots on a 64 meg smart media card (only comes with a 16 meg. Flash can be used in various modes or switched off (very difficult to shoot in focus when off without a tripod). It also takes up to 90 second reasonable quality movies with sound. The camera really does take excellent pictures in normal conditions, but not great in low light. On maximum setting (equivalent to 4 million pixels), an A4 print is no problem at all. I find the main advantages as follow: Fits in your trowser pocket or handbag Comes with soft case Cradle / USB included with connection for charging whilst battery in camera Long lasting charge Simple to set up Has macro facility yielding incredible detail to photos Displays number of shots remaining (in the little colour screen) Colours very true Robust metal construction & stylish design Everything supplied such as software, good instructions etc. It should be possible to pick this camera up for around £300 now, this is a very good digital camera for thi
s price. For anyone wanting more technical information: Number of effective pixels 2.1 million CCD sensor 1/2.7-inch Super CCD in an interwoven pattern.
