Advantages: great quality photos
Disadvantages: swallows batteries
We got this camera as a present for Christmas from my future mother in law. We opened the box and our first impression was ‘What a beauty’. It is a really nice looking silver camera with a 1.6 inch colour LCD monitor which allows you to view the object before taking a photo of it and then view your pictures after. I will least down some of the features, Records images at resolutions of up to 1280 x 960 pixels. (Very good quality) Built in automatic flash Manual photography Digital 2X zoom photography function 4X playback zoom PC mode for downloading images Self-timer These are only some of the features. Although we have had the camera for four months now we still don’t know everything about it. Supplied with the camera was a 2MB Smartmedia card. If you are a keen photographer and take picture after picture away from a computer you will definitely need to purchase a larger memory Smartmedia card. We have just purchased a 64MB card that cost us £80. This enables you to take over 100 of the best quality shot where as before we were limited to just 2. Once you have taken the photos you can download them onto your computer. This only takes a few seconds but with a 64MB card it takes a lot longer. If you print them out on good quality photo paper you will get better results than at a photo shop. One problem with this camera is the battery power. It takes 4 AA batteries and they do not last long at all. Recently I have started to use rechargeable batteries as we were paying a fortune in batteries. If you can afford it I recommend you purchase an AC Power Adaptor. Also if you wish to save time and even more battery power I recommend buying a floppy disc adapter which enables you to place you smart media card straight into you floppy drive. We have not being disappointed with this camera and have being taking excellent pictures for four months now we have no complaints.
If you are looking for a digital camera for the first time this is the one I would recommend.

- 20/06/01 I wish you had the option of a larger Smartmedia card when you buy the camera - the 2MB aren't a lot of use are they? Good op. Sue |

- 15/05/01 Good point. That floppy disk adapter is invaluable, after all, you just get back itching to see your latest photos and have to wait until the camera has fresh batteries before you can download them! Kinda loses the immediacy of it otherwise, don't it? |
