Advantages: Easy to use, very good quality

Disadvantages: Slow downloads, needs addons

I researched digital cameras for a few months before I decided to buy the FUJI MX 1200. The camera is a very handy size and quite easy to use. Even a child could take good photos with this camera.

The camera comes with a 2x zoom and has a TFT colour screen that shows what the picture looks like. If you do not like the photo it is easily deleted. I bought this one on sale for £199 at Morgan’s back in November of 1999. It is a great camera to take pictures at parties. It comes with awesome software that allows one to create a slide show. I have made slide shows and put them on video tape with music. This is a great way to put several pictures on tape and give as a gift.

The pictures take awhile to download on the computer. To speed the process up I’d recommend buying a FLASHPATH FLOPPY DISK ADAPTER. This makes the download time much faster and is relatively cheap at £40.

Quite a few of my friends and family are thinking of getting one. The photos look fantastic especially on photo quality paper. It really is hard to tell the photos from this camera and our other camera.

Unfortunately with this camera and many others on the market you really need to buy the addon’s. The camera only comes with a 2MB Smartmedia card which only holds about 6 high quality photos, so investing in a 16MB or 32MB card is probably going to be necessary. These retail for about £40 to £80 pounds and hold between 40 to 90 photos but unless your willing to pay 500+ pounds for a camera you’ll get this with pretty much all of them.

In summary, if you are looking to purchase a great digital camera at a reasonable price I highly recommend the FUJI MX 1200. I paid £199 but they usually retail for £299 and it is worth it despite the extras.

I also have this camera and LOVE it , it takes brill photos too, I have all the add ons but my main bug bear is the battery power life, I am going through one pack of batteries for only a few photos, I am using the right ones for this camera. does anyone else have any suggestions about the battery life?

I love this camera.. unforunately it's my friends :) Hehe but I've had it all evening to take pictures of my computers CPU.. I have to say the quality is impressive, I can actually read the writing on the thing (very very small). My only problem with this is, as you say, batteries and a lack of USB connection. But now at only £150 it's a damn good buy. Good op sonny :)

I enjoy using my FUJI 1200 too, but the batteries drain pretty quickly when using it a lot, say at weddings.
