Advantages: Low battery consumption, Excellent zoom range, Easy menu access

Disadvantages: No sound on movies, No case included, Poorly made lens cover

I have had this camera for about a week now, and I haven?t stopped using it. It?s my new gadget (or toy, some might say!) I can?t say I take pictures often, but I have fancied having a digital camera for ages now, and what a choice I made. I was bored at work one day, and so started flicking through a catalogue, and this camera seemed to just jumped out at me. Less than 24 hours later, I was clicking away!

It is so easy to use, and it comes with all the accessories that you need to download your pictures onto a computer. The pack includes: Camera (obviously!), 2 Batteries, USB cable, 16mb Xd-picture card, Cradle adapter, Special video cable, strap, and a CD-Rom. Have you noticed anything missing though? Yup, you guessed it ? a camera case. I was quite disappointed when I realised it didn?t include one. For the price I paid, I was expecting at least a cheap case!

The menu system is so easy to pick up; you?ll be using all the features within minutes! It?s just completely foolproof (believe me, if I can find my way around it, you can too!). There are only 3 buttons to use, and the options all come up n the screen. Simple! The menus can also be displayed in many different languages including English, French, Spanish, etc.

As I have just mentioned, and with most new digital cameras, an LCD screen comes as standard, so you?ll be pleased to hear that this one has one too. It?s a 1.5inch TFT LCD screen. (And before you ask, I don?t know what all those letters mean!) Although this camera has very low power consumption (meaning you can keep those batteries going for absolutely ages), you can turn off this screen, and only use the viewfinder, therefore saving even more power. This is a great function to have.

There are three different picture qualities that you can choose from: 3m, 2m, 1m, and 0.3m. The lower the quality, the more room you have for more pictures. I use the 0.3m, as it still has amazing quality, and you can save around 120 pi
ctures!

One of the features, which I was quite specific in wanting, was a zoom feature, and to see that this camera had both Optical and Digital zoom, I was very pleased, as that is quite rare, and then to see that they are both quite powerful, I was impressed. Are you yet? I can?t really explain the difference between the two, so go out and do the research! Ha ha. The only downside of this is that it is quite hard to get to grips with at first, but now I can get really good landscape pictures! The camera also has a Macro feature that allows you take photos close up.

There is a slight downfall of the manufacturing of this camera. The sliding lens cover I was quite disappointed with. The camera as a whole is of very high quality, but the lens cover is plasticy and isn?t really a worthy feature of the camera.

On the up side, the flash on this camera is excellent! I saw how powerful it was, and so tried taking a picture in the dark. To my amazement, it looked as if the picture was taken in the day. I don?t know how it would turn out outside, but I?m sure it?d be just as good!

This camera is great to hold, as it?s so compact, with all the buttons in easy reach. It even has a special place to grip your thumb while taking a picture. Genius!

One of the best features of the camera, in my opinion, is the power consumption? or the lack of it. It lets you have so much more battery time than other cameras. This has proved to be very useful, and will no doubt be very economical!

I don?t think I have mentioned so far that this camera has the ability to record ?movies?. They can only be 60 seconds long, and without any sound. For all you jargon junkies, it is filmed at 320 x 240 pixels. It?s quite a fun feature to have.

An interesting function, that I haven?t used yet, is the Internet conferencing function. Unfortunately this can only be used on Windows, but as I haven?t used it, no opinion can be given.

I am
really happy with this product, and so I would really recommend it!
