Advantages: Price, pixel resolution, ease of use, ease of setup, picture/video quality

Disadvantages: Screen refresh rate before taking photos, weight if being picky

This review is a summary of my experiences with the FinePix A900; I shall not bore you with the ins and outs of the specification as this is readily available on the FujiFilm website.

Ok...lets begin. I purchased my A900 from Currys about a year ago. It was priced at £89.99 at the time, and for a camera with a 9 megapixel capability, I thought this was a great camera for an even better price. And since that day I purchased it, I can honestly say that I have never had any trouble with it. So lets get down to the nitty gritty.

Positives

My experience of the camera so far has been very positive indeed. Firslty I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to set up, to use, and to change its settings. The display should be praised for this - it is very large and also very clear. The overall functionality of the camera in my opinion is excellent.

Secondly, picture quality is fantastic with this camera! After taking thousands of pictures and playing with different settings, it always produces clear and well balanced ones. These pictures look even better printed or blown up on a computer. And finally, I was hugely impressed with the video quality also. Once again, they come out clear, and without any stutter at all.

Negatives

I believe the camera's only weakness lies with the quality of the screen itself. Occasionaly when in picture mode, the screen refresh rate can be slow which leads to a blurred image being produced on the LCD before you take a photo. This does not affect final picture quality though. Apart from this, if I am to be very picky, I'd say that it's a little heavier than other brands or models. But I see this as a sign of sturdy build quality more than anything.

All in all, I would highly recommend the A900 to amateur or casual photographers who are looking to buy a good quality budget camera. Hope this review is helpful in your final decision.

Summary: Excellent camera for the price. Highly recommended!
