Advantages: Easy to use, great quality photos, nice features, quick photos

Disadvantages: No view finder - difficult to see screen when very sunny

We purchased the Fuji F40fd in June from Amazon for use a family camera, to use to take photos on holidays, weddings, family occasions etc and have been very pleased with the results.

Firstly its design is modern and attrative, however our main reason for purchasing this camera was its impressive features for the price. I read that most Fuji cameras only take xD cards, however this took an SD card which we already had from a previous camera, this was a big plus. The 8 million megapixels is ample for our needs, we only ever print photos out 10x8" max and this produces great quality results.

Our old digital camera took an age to take a photo once you press the take picture button, however this camera almost instantly takes the photo which to me was a big plus. We used our old camera on a tour in New York and was forever missing things due to the delay in taking the photo. Our new F40fd will mean we never miss a shot.

The display on the back is large enough to see the photos and to take the picture. I would have liked there to have a been a view finder to look through as it can be difficult to see the screen when very sunny. We used the automatic photo function which took some good shots and it has autofocus and face detection technology which takes much better and clearer photos, overall I would recommend this as a good family camera with some nice little added features.
